Tickets for CSTS Pittsburgh 2026 Are Available Now!
Ladies and menfolk, tickets are officially available for the Rivers and Bridges Brigade’s 21st annual “Can’t Stop the Serenity” (CSTS) Pittsburgh charity screening on Sunday, August 30 at the Parkway Theater in McKees Rocks, PA from 1-5pm!
My apologies to some of you who have read a lot of this before, but it bears repeating. If you follow this blog regularly (and I hope you do), you already know that in addition to the film, there will be “Serenity”-themed games and prize drawings, a shiny “door prize” and a special drawing for anyone seeing the Big Damn Movie for the first time. The doors will open at 1pm, and the movie will start at 2:30pm, so arrive as close to 1pm as possible if you want to have plenty of time to play games and enter drawings to win yourself some prizes. Food and drink will also be available for purchase. (The Parkway has a fully stocked bar and a partnership with Abjuration Brewing, which brews local craft beers right on site.)
The Parkway is also an air-conditioned venue, so although there won’t be a costume contest, it will still be plenty comfortable for folk who want to attend in their best “Firefly”- or “Serenity”-inspired costumes.
The Parkway’s screening room is a 45-seat movie theater with comfortable seating and great sound. We plan to sell tickets at the door again this year for as long as they are still available, but if you want to be certain you’ll get to see the Big Damn Movie on the big screen, you want to get your tickets early to make sure you have them before they sell out. They are available now through Jump Cut Theater, and there are links to the tickets page on the home page and the “shindigs” calendar of the Rivers and Bridges Brigade website. Those who make a minimum $10 donation will receive admission to the film and an entry in the "door-prize" drawing (as well as the special drawing for first-time viewers, if appropriate). If you are unable to attend this year’s shindig but would still like to support the cause, Jump Cut Theater has a donation-only option on the tickets page. Just click on “BUY TICKETS” and you’ll find it. And don’t forget you can score yourself a shiny CSTS Pittsburgh T-shirt in the store on our website too!
By now you probably know that this year’s charities were chosen in memory of the late Nicholas Brendon (the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” actor for whom Joss Whedon originally wrote the role of Malcolm Reynolds), who passed back in March, and also in keeping with our commitment to help our country’s veterans. Proceeds from this year's event will be split evenly between The Stuttering Foundation, Nicholas Brendon’s charity of choice that provides resources and support for those who stutter and their families, and K9s For Warriors, which provides service dogs to veterans at no cost to them.
